Detox, which is short for 'Detoxification', means getting rid of toxic substances. Our body naturally detoxifies itself all the time (and the liver plays a big role in that!) and this is actually crucial for surviving. Many of the harmful toxins can be drawn out, but not all of them. There is so much toxicity everywhere nowadays - pesticides, heavy metals, medication, radioactive elements and chemicals - that takes a huge toll on our bodies.

But not only toxins are putting stress on our bodies - an unhealthy diet with lots of processed sugar and a lack of nutrients and no regular exercise are as bad for our health can also weaken our immune system. That's why implementing detoxing foods like into your diet is super important. This green smoothie is a good place to start, as it contains ingredients that are great for detox such as:

1. Cucumber
Cucumbers are anti-inflammatory and super hydrating which aids in flushing out toxins (and we want to flush them out, trust me).

2. Lemon
Lemons are also great for flushing out harmful substances out of our bodies. Plus the enzymes found in lemons support digestive processes. Also: Yay for vitamin C!

3. Leafy Greens
Leafy Greens are amazing and actually one of the most nutrient dense foods around! They contain loads of essential micronutrients and chlorophyll, which helps getting rid of heavy metals, pesticides and other toxins (Note to self: eat more greens).

4. Our Super Green Mix
The mix of wheatgrass, barley grass, baobab, moringa, spirulina and chlorella strenghtens your immune system, is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and supports your gut. Just like the leafy greens, it provides you with a lot of chlorophyll and nutrients, that push your metabolism, clean your blood and shed those toxins. Sounds good, right?

  • 15g Super Green Mix
  • 1 handful of kale 
  • 1 handful spinach
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1/4 cucumber
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 slice of lemon (peeled)
  • 1 cup water


  • Mix everything in your blender until smooth.
  • Pour into a glass.
  • Enjoy!

 SUPER TIP: Use coconut water as your liquid for a boost of electrolytes!
